About Me
I am a consultant psychiatrist with more than a decade of experience specializing in mood disorders, including treatment-resistant depression. My approach to care is grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and a commitment to evidence-based treatment.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with patients and families during some of their most challenging times, helping them navigate the complexities of their illness and guiding them toward recovery and improved well-being.
I believe that mental health care is most effective when it is collaborative. That means placing you, the patient, at the centre of the decision-making process. My aim is to understand not only your symptoms but also the unique circumstances of your life that shape how these symptoms impact you. By working together, we can develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs and preferences.
Background and Approach
I bring a wealth of experience to my practice, including serving as the Medical Lead for Mood Disorders in Cambridge, where I oversaw innovative approaches to treating complex cases. I also held roles as an Associate Clinical Director and the Clinical Lead for a pioneering primary care mental health service. These roles have equipped me with a deep understanding of how to deliver effective care across diverse settings, from community services to specialized psychiatric clinics.
I trained at St. John of God Hospital and in Cambridge, where I honed my expertise in managing complex psychiatric conditions. I am currently a Consultant in Mood Disorders and head of the Hospital Neuromodulation Service, where I lead advanced treatments for depression and related disorders.
I am a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, and the Clinical TMS Society. These memberships reflect my commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards and staying at the forefront of advances in mental health care.
In my clinical work, I combine cutting-edge pharmacological strategies with a holistic assessment approach that considers the numerous factors that can lead to a person becoming unwell including family history, relationships, substance use and medical problems. I support people to develop coping skills and promote resilience. I also prioritize the use of measurement-based care to ensure that we track progress objectively and make data-informed adjustments to your treatment plan.
